The Prayer Wall (Israel) |
So why is prayer important especially when it seems like all hope is lost?
1. PRAYER IS A DIVINE MANDATE. Beloved, prayer is God's commandment and according to the Holy Bible, if we love God we must keep his commandments. Moreover, the fact that our prayer is made from the Word of God and what we pray must be the WORD and not contrary to the word of GOD is enough to encourage us. So do not lose hope anymore rather build yourself up with the Word of God and through prayer. You are furnished when you obey God's word.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. (2 Timothy 3:16-17).2. OUR LORD JESUS ALSO TAUGHT US TO PRAY. Jesus said he that is not with us is against us. He encouraged us to pray irrespective of our situations and circumstances. See John 14:13-14.
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.(John 14:13-14).Child of God the above scripture says "whatsoever you shall ask...", so right now open your mouth wherever you are, quietly or as you want, begin to ask God for something you need now. Don't keep it till later, do it now and see what happens. Alleluia. It is very important to seize every opportunity we see in the Word of God and let us stop doubting His Word.
Note also that our Lord Jesus did not just teach us to pray by mouth, He demonstrated it in many ways. He Himself prayed, so why can't we? Let's consider the scriptures below:
Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened,(Luke 3:21)
And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. (Luke 5:16).
And it came to pass, as he was alone praying, his disciples were with him: and he asked them, saying, Whom say the people that I am? (Luke 9:18).
And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. (Luke 6:12).
And it came to pass about an eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and John and James, and went up into a mountain to pray. (Luke 9:28).
And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. (Luke 11:1).
And he was withdrawn from them about a stone's cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
Saying, Father, if thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done. (Luke 22:41-42).
I pray that we shall all begin to emulate Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to pray without ceasing and to pray aright in all situations in Jesus name.
3. PRAYER SUSTAINS OUR LIFE. IT'S OUR BREATH. Our new life in Christ as Christians needs to be renewed daily and sustained through prayer by the power of the Holy Spirit. Prayer helps us to develop a healthy loving relationship with God our Father, with Jesus and the eternal Holy Spirit. So our prayers must be regular and consistent, even in times of trouble and according to the will of God.
Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.Psalm (55:17).
Pray without ceasing. (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. (1 Thessalonians 50:15).4. PRAYER IS A DIVINE WAY OF HAVING OUR NEEDS MET. Beloved, we receive nothing because we have not asked or we are not asking appropriately. We receive nothing because we ask selfishly. I am yet to see anyone one who asks according to the will of God that never receives; only that we must exercise patience and the fulness of time is needed.
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.(Phillipians 4:19).
Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.
Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.(James 4:2-3).
And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth, and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he asks a fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent?(luke 11:9-11)Finally, beloved, you must pray even when you are so troubled and it seems you are losing hope. It's only through your communion and divine communication with God that you can be restored.
OTHER THINGS YOU CAN DO WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE GIVING UP
- 1. Check your circle of friends and environment. Your friends and environment must be influencing you positively or negatively. If you have a problem or you have been in situations that you want to give up on life, then your friends or environment is not imparting positively(My opinion). You can make a shift- Start creating a new circle of friends like positive minded and loving Christians and believers that will help your faith and Christian journey.
- You must change your mindset. Always encourage yourself and never give up. Try and try again. DO NOT FORGET, DETERMINATION FIGHTS IMPOSSIBILITY.
- You must forget and forgive who has hurt you; you must also be ready to forgive yourself.
- You must not dwell on the mental attitude of the past. Detach yourself from the past.
- Stop apportioning blame on others. Start taking responsibilities and positive steps.
- Learn to love unconditionally. Learn to care and give without expectation.
- don't forget that you receive real strength when you persevere when you keep pushing.
- Always remember that it's never too late to start over. Always try something different and new.
- Remember to always take care of yourself. Don't contribute negatively.
That's all for now beloved. I do hope you will begin to apply what we have shared. Please always remember that you are a divine project and there is God's treasure in you. You must not let anyone despise or pull you down. Let God's deposits and potentials in you shine and blossom so you will be a blessing to your generation and generations yet unborn.
